  Insurance Policies for kids

  i was listening to the radio today and i think it was gerber that was selling life insurance policies for kids and it made me wonder, the only advantage i can think of for this is to cover the funeral costs if something were to happen for some who may want or need it.

  personally i think it is kinda odd to take a life insurance policy on your children.. now i'm sure that some get it automatically with some work policies and sure thats great but would you consider ever doing this and for what reasons?.

  About 10 years ago I recieved a call from an insurance company explaining a premium increase. I was floored because I never bought a policy from them. It was revealed to me that my father hade taken out the $500000.00 policy, naming himself as beneficary. He had recently frauded me out of $65000.00 equity in a realestate transaction and we weren't speaking at the time. If that was not enough, just about a month after the policy was purchased I was mugged at knifepoint in front of my children and barely escaped with my life. Coincidence??? He is still in good standing in his congregation. WHEN I brought this information to the elders I was told not to stir the pot and to let it go. I knew his reasonings for the policy, he's a manipulative ass. A picture perfect DUB.

  Threefold cord?

  could someone please explain what a "threefold cord" marriage is?

  i have read that expression several times and have no idea what it means.

  Don't stop at three...

  I wrote this for SheilaM a few years ago. Your thread reminded me of it.

  The Cord of my life

  Twisted strands of colored yarn

  In tiny hands draped over crossed legs

  Bare feet, painted toes.

  Through eyes now “old” I watch

  Head craned to my left

  How does she do that?

  Loop, pull, turn, twist, inspect

  Hook in hand, smile on lips

  Small lips, her lips, my lips

  She turns and catches me watching

  Her smile broadens

  She feels like I am proud of her

  I’ve always been proud of her

  She amazes me

  I was but a single strand

  All those years ago

  She took my hand and added my strand to her two

  She began to weave a cord

  Three became four

  The plumbing worked

  The cord was strong but the world hard

  Years passed. Lost time

  Wear, fraying, one strand severed

  Two strands severed

  Only two left

  Then three again

  Then four

  Then five, well four and a half

  Now five and a half

  I’ve watched as she weaved two balls of yarn into instant warmth

  I know for a fact she can handle five and a half

  It will be six soon, the half nearly whole

  The cord of my life is in her hands

  I know she will do only right with it

  After all she started this

  What have I to worry for?

  I wonder, will she catch me watching 50 years from now?

  ARE YOU AFRAID OF DYING?

  as we were all told long ago, none of us would have to worry about getting old and dying in this system of things, because the new system was "right around the corner".

  as we all know, that corner was really a circle and the new system is always just out of reach.

  my father, a witness for the last 60 years, is terrrified of dying, seeing as he never thought he'd have to deal with it.

  Lots of good thoughts so far. Me, I'm not afraid of death as much as I am of growing old and becoming a burden. I don't want anyone wiping my ass and feeling sorry for me. I intend to go out with a bang. I may need to crank up the old hearing aid to hear it, but I don't intend to fade away.

  If though the old saying, "only the good die young" rings true, I'll be here forever!

  how do you get ahead in the org?

  a question: how does an elder move ahead?

  what i mean is my father has been an elder for over 20 years and as far as i know he has never been offered any high profile jobs, co etc, never gotten to give the big talks at assemblies, etc, i was just wondering is there some type of politics that goes along with it?

  New Speed Limit Enforcer along Interstates in Virgina!

  on my way to myrtle beach last week with the family, i drove down the "i 81".

  when we past from west virgina and into virgina, i noted the first sign on the interstate.

  it said "speed limit enforced by aircraft".

  Good or Evil, where do you draw the line?

  without the bible, is it possible to define good from evil?

  what may be good for one person may be considered evil for another.. is good judgement good enough to differentiate good from evil?

  for example fornication is considered evil in the bible, while it may feel good for the people involved.

  If your actions are considered ilegal in your society, if they hurt friends or family, or endanger others, don't do it.

  People need to quit making excuses for their need to indulge in bad behavior.

  Set your bar high, personal integrity is important.
